At Back of the Yards College Prep, art is highly valued. Yet, one art class, in particular, is far different from the others. Choir, a group that welcomes good vibes and open-minded students.
Director, Mr. Morrow, believes that choir has grown as a program and as a community-based organization; where everyone is expected to grow, help, and learn through the act of singing and performing.
It is also a class known for it’s comfort and for it’s family like bond. Everyone taking part in this class setting can break free from their shell and put any worries to the side. Negative judgements are not welcomed here, and all students participating are encouraged to do their best.
The choir studio is a place where students explore different cultures from around the world. They explore singing, rhythm, time measurement, and so much more. This opens students to a wide variety of skills, and methods of self-expression.
Choir offers Beginning and Intermediate classes, but will soon offer Concert Choir for those students with enough experience. Choir gives everyone a chance to express themselves in an artistic way.
Even though choir made its debut at BOYCP last year, the program has improved as a whole tremendously with the use of effort, dedication, and hard work.
