When Donald Trump first announced his presidential run mid-June of last year, many were negligent of his statement. This wasn’t the first time he had toyed with the idea of running for presidency, Donald had publicly considered a presidential run in 1988. However, that consideration ultimately became a reality in 2000, when he entered the presidential race and earned over 15,000 republican votes. Hillary Clinton also ran for presidency back in 2008 against Barack Obama and John McCain.
Throughout the course of events in this year’s run, America has witnessed some of the most bizarre and antagonizing remarks made on behalf of Trump. Although at the center of controversy, his remarks have received both their share of praise and infamy. Negative comments made against Mexican immigrants and Muslims have created a frenzy in today’s society, forever changing Trump’s appearance to the public.
Hillary Clinton’s run has also come under much criticism, abruptly gaining nationwide attention when news of her deleting over 60 thousand emails during her term as secretary of state went viral. Emails, said to have contained classified data, were discovered due to government investigation on a private server owned by Clinton herself. She had publicly stated that she had not set up a private server in her own home. Her most recent headline, however, was the revelation of being diagnosed with pneumonia.
May I remind you, one of these two candidates will be our next president.
On another note, Hillary and Donald have just finished their first presidential debate after much anticipation. The first debate, held on the 26th of September, in Hempstead, New York was broadcasted live across the nation and streamed online globally. As blasphemous as it may be to see childish antics on a presidential debate, many people still tuned in to witness the event take place. With an estimated 66.8 million live streams on Youtube and over eighteen million viewers broadcasting from their television, it seems that there are people who are either seriously concerned or are that amused by this year’s elections.
