“Not many girls in the tryout have much experience, but [the] volleyball girls end their season with obvious growth, ” Coach Anderson stated. The volleyball program not only achieved excellence, but also helped the girls build a strong character and a strong physique. Every hour that the volleyball team puts in practice has been reflected in their conference.
The varsity team went undefeated in their conference with an overall record of 12-1 for the season. The match between the BOYCP volleyball team and Solorio’s volleyball team ended in a draw. The sophomore volleyball team also had a successful season with a record of 10-1, however in a match against Solorio they lost in a three set thriller.
The volleyball team is making improvement in order to continue their previous goal of achieving the regional championship. Last year, the volleyball team achieved their goal. It was their first year in the IHSA State Tournament and volleyball team made it to the Regional Championship, but they lost to DeLaSalle. “We try to keep our goals realistic with a constant hunger for more, so right now we are focusing on the Regional Semifinals match. Then we will focus on the Regional Championship.” Coach Anderson stated.
Team support, communication, and practice has become a strategy to help the volleyball girls to achieve a higher record and also the regional championship goal. Varsity team member and senior, Dayanna Garcia, said, “I come to practice everyday. The things we practice is the mistakes we had in the games.” Overall, the Volleyball girls have shown great reflection and improvement in technique during their conference this year.
