The boys’ and girls’ cross-country teams have come in strong at BOYCP. Both teams are very supportive and encourage one another. When asked about the team’s cooperativeness the boys’ team captain, Miguel Ortega, stated, “…together there is more cooperation so when one person stops, they are always being pushed by the other to keep going”.

The captain of the girls’ team, Yulisa Hernandez, comments as well and says, “We always supported [one] another in whatever place we end in the race”. Both captains emphasize the great sportsmanship the team has with one another. The coach, Ms. Johnson, said,“They made a lot of improvements from where they started”. The team is stronger together with their collaboration.

On October 15, the Cross- Country team went to a City Championship for a 2-mile meet and they ran their ultimate best. The top three finishers for the Bobcat boys’ team was Miguel Ortega in first at 12:58, Eddie Martinez in second place at 13:34, and Joaquin Monjaras in third place at 13:46. The top three finishers for the Bobcat girls’ team was Yulisa Hernandez in first at 15:31, Brianna Armenta in second 16:19, and Mitzi Santamaria in third at 16:43.

Since the beginning of their season, the players started to form friendships and even made their own slang, “you played yourself”. According the team, it is a saying that means you messed up. The team created the saying and created a strong bond which will last a long time.
