Being apart of the football program takes a lot of dedication and determination, for the players and the coaches as well. Coach Murphy, as well as the other members apart of the football program, have had to make a lot of sacrifices; such as not going out as much with their significant others, spending less time with their families, and not going out with their friends.
Football is a sport that builds character. Coach Murphy, believes that, “always guiding the players in the right direction academically, athletically, and as growing individuals is the most productive way to transform boys into young men.” Being a coach allows them to be a father figure to young men and to teach them how to not only better themselves as football players, but also how to better themselves as people.
Not only do the coaches have to coach the boys as players but they have to be very administrative as well. According to Coach Murphy, being administrative isn’t the most fun task that coaches have to complete. Checking up on physicals, grades, and behavior are also parts of coaching the boys. Coach Murphy, as well as the other members of the football program, do an amazing job at keeping everything in check and having a close-knit football program.
Being a coach is all about being there for the players; individually and as a whole. Understanding the different personalities and attitudes of each player and working with them to teach each player the right things to do.
Being a football coach is an amazing talent that not everyone is able to posses, but the BOYCP football coaches make it look like an easy task. The players as well as their supporters thank them for doing such an amazing job and guiding the boys in the right direction allowing them finish off the football season with great success.
