Have you been feeling down lately? If so, you should join the BOYCP boys’ swim team! Swimming has many properties that are beneficial to one’s mental health.

Specifically, competitive swimming is a sport that is mentally demanding. Zorian Flowers, senior, stated, “pushing myself each and every day in swimming helps me push myself each and every day in school because if I can push my body to its limits, I know what I can push my mind to its limits every single day.” This statement carries a lot of vigor. The drive that Zorian has gained from swimming has been transferred over to his personality. The strength needed to continuously push yourself to your limits shows the vigor of the boys.

Mentally, the swim team is also incredibly strong. In order to join the swim team, you need to have a determined mindset. You need to stick to the rigorous conditioning because eventually you will be drawn to the challenge. Zorian also stated, “mentally, swimming drains everything from you.” Swimming is a good way to clear your mind from troubling matters at hand. When you are not stressed, more of your mental and physical capacity can be accessed, which can improve performance and self-confidence. When you are under stress, your mind is not focused on the task you have to achieve, but rather on the stress itself. Being focused is necessary for a person who is trying to perform to the best of their abilities.
