Spring is in and the Bobcats are out. With hard work and dedication, the boy’s baseball team is on the road to a successful season. However, the season will take place far away from the friendly confines of BOYCP.

The team as a whole faces many challenges, and the first one starts at home plate which is located at 2210 W. Pershing Rd. The baseball team is the only sport at BOYCP who doesn’t have an actual place to play. Mr. Gorney, head coach, said, “We play our home games at McKinley Park, and we have to take a bus to get there. This makes it very difficult to find space to practice everyday. Sometimes we use the gym, sometimes we use the soccer field, and sometimes we use the softball field, but none of those spaces are ideal”. This makes it twice as hard for the boys to condition and be prepared to play on their “home” field.

Besides the obstacles that the baseball team is destined to face, the team isn’t intimidated by anything. When asked about a baseball game that all BOYCP students must attend Manny Herrera said, “Every game is a game to attend”. With high hopes the baseball boys expect many spectators at each one of their games. They’re determined on accomplishing their goals throughout the season. On behalf of the coaching staff, coach Gorney plans to fulfill and implement his coaching tactics for the benefit of all players in and out of the field to value the importance of commitment and hard work. The coaching staff as well as the boys are willing to swing their way to success, under any circumstances this season!
