Are you a fan of any sports, celebrities, bands, writers, or anything associated with a fan base? People enjoy fandoms because being a part of a specific group brings joy and mental support. A person’s personality, behavior, and habits is often represented by the group they follow. Fans are typically informed by an abundance of information about what they idolize. They want to know as much about it as possible.

People are always surrounded by different perspectives which lead to individuals viewing others as role models.  You see, you like, you want to emulate. Being a fan is a human action in which represents a person  displays a respect or desire to imitate and appreciate someone or something. It helps people define who they are.

In the United States, it is common for people to root for their favorite sports teams. In Chicago, being a fan often requires knowing essential things such as the schedule, the team members, and so much more. An example of a fandom in Chicago are the fans of the Chicago Cubs. This year, the Cubs took part of the World Series. Through each game, fans stayed up late with hopes that the Cubs would win. After the Chicago Cubs won the World Series, the city celebrated. There was a parade held in downtown Chicago, which some BOYCP students attended! They gave up their personal lives for a while to follow the team.

You can also be a fan of a book, movie, or band. There are different kinds of fans and people. What seems to be important is that every fan can connect with the group on a deeply personal level.

People may enjoy fandoms because of what they believe in. It is logical for an individual to choose what they like to do and follow it. Being a fan defines who a person is and what hobbies they like. Therefore, people only need to follow their own choices to find a group of people who have similar interests.
