Animal Awareness Club is run by Vanesa Ruiz, Gabriela Garcia, Osiris Olgun, Joshua Preciado, and Luz Tena and mentored by Mrs. Alexander and Ms. Hanus. Originally created as a CAS project, the club meets every Thursday in Rm. 200B to talk about helping animals in need.

Even though the club has just begun, the club creators and members have shared their ideas of ways they can collect and donate toys and food to animals. The club will be working closely with different shelters to give and support them for everything the shelters do for the animals. The members will create fundraisers to donate as much money as they can to help animals in need. Discussions about different companies who use animals to test their products will be taking place as well and the club will work together to figure out ways to change that. The club hopes to bring more awareness to animals and desire more people to come and join their journey for a better tomorrow.

Genesis Valencia, a member of Animal Awareness Club, said, “Animal Awareness Club’s goal is to provide and help animals in need. It is full of people who love animals and want to change something. The club would bring the community closer together for a sense of unity and desire to achieve a certain goal.” Together these students will speak on animals behalf because “dogs are a man’s best friend” and animals deserve the right to be treated with kindness and respect.

Animal Awareness had a good turn out with their first meeting and anticipates they will get more members for the rest of the school year. If you like animals and hope to help those in need find better homes, then join Animal Awareness Club.
