The Last Star, by award-winning author Rick Yancey, is a young-adult science fiction novel about aliens, action, and love coming during the spring. The Last Star is expected to come out on May 24, 2016 and is the final book in The 5th Wave Trilogy.
With a movie premiere in 2015 and The 5th Wave being a New York Times Bestseller, a new fan base was brought to the trilogy. Common Sense Media had stated,“The 5th Wave explores an apocalyptic scenario that still has some juice in it. By making the motives of the alien invaders opaque, author Rick Yancey keeps readers guessing and the level of suspense high throughout the book.” The anticipation for this book is vast because of the excitement the other two novels created for the series.
To keep people interested, Rick Yancey provided a snippet of The Last Star in an interview with USA Today. He talks about a priest who is afraid of humanity, a watchmen with binoculars, and Agatha, a small lost woman. With a lot more Ben, Cassie, and Ringer, The Last Star is seen as being close to the original contexts of The 5th Wave.
Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, by best-selling author Ransom Riggs, is a young-adult horror fiction novel. The novel was originally published on June 7, 2011 and became a New York Time’s Best Seller.
The novel is the first book to a trilogy that follows the story of Jacob Portman, an American teenager who lives an ordinary life in Englewood, Florida. Jacob grew up listening to the stories of his grandfather’s adventures in an old orphanage where he once lived alongside children who had peculiar powers and his headmistress Miss Peregrine. As a child, Jacob dismissed these stories as fantasies but he soon learned that the peculiar children might exist.
The film adaptation, directed by Tim Burton, will hit theaters on September 30, 2016 and USA Today says the novel is “[A] thrilling, Tim Burton-esque tale with haunting photographs.”
