Like Derrick Rose once said, “All the days that you wake up, you have one job, and that’s to get better every single day.” Many people like the girls’ basketball team follow this mentality. When asked to describe the team in one word, Rosa Macias, said, “Hard working.” This basketball season has proven, yet again, an impressive showcase of teamwork and determination to strive above all else.
Lady Bobcat, number 11, Rosa Macias, spoke on behalf of her team to give an update on this basketball season in a series of questions. When asked if they prepare for each game differently, she clarified that they always prepare for each game the same. “We always review over plays, and our coaches always have an inspirational quote to show us, and we all talk about it as a team.” Even after playing basketball for so long, Rosa gets nervous before each game. “There are moments we still get nervous when we hear about the other schools’ records and stats. We just don’t know what to expect, all we can do is play how we usually play.”
She even took the time to mention that their goal is to win regionals and based on their recent performances, it seems more than likely, thanks to Ms. Maxwell’s coaching. Finally, she was asked if the girls’ basketball team had anything left to say to the BOYCP students and staff. She was particularly excited to say that she and Dayanna Garcia were playing their final games with the basketball team. She assured everyone that they’ve been training extensively, especially for the Senior night that took place on Friday, January 27th, against Kelly. Even with the future departure of the senior lady bobcats, the team will continue to play their hearts out to reach their goals and make BOYCP proud. Keep going, girls!
