After the football team’s first loss of the season, they came back strong with three consecutive wins against W.R. Harper High School, Chicago High School for Agricultural Sciences, and Bronzeville Military Academy! While a loss can demoralize a team, it seems to have rekindled the spirits of the football team. It has reminded the players of what they need to do: put maximum effort into conditioning and work towards mastering skills and plays. We hope to see the football team continue this path of success. It is the stamp of Coach Murphy.

A great amount of the Bobcat’s success is in part because of their coaches. During halftime, Coach Murphy brought in the players and critiqued the performance. Praise was given for the successful plays, and the morale of the team was boosted through the words of the coaches. Even when the players looked physically fatigued, they were brought back to life by a simple phrase, “what’s our energy at?” With that one phrase, all the football players answered “100”, thus showing the relationship between coach and player.

The coaches are exceptional, but even they make mistakes. The coaches have no problem owning up to their mistakes and apologizing for it. During half-time, the team was already thinking of how to improve communication. This goes to show dedication and drive of the staff and the incredible Coach Murphy. The relationship between coach and player is strong and reliable; this bond is a major factor in the success of the team. Make sure to watch as the bond continues at the homecoming football game, October 12th.
