Imagine standing on the tennis court with a racket in your hand anxiously waiting for your opponent’s serve. This daunting moment requires precise calculations to estimate the power and trajectory of the serve. Yet, it is a second nature for the BOYCP girls’ tennis team.

During a singles match, you “have to rely on yourself”, as mentioned by Senior, Mary Chen, a 1st place tournament winner. This exhilarating experience is one that is scary, yet rewarding if you properly manage the court by yourself. Whereas, the benefit of playing doubles, according to Senior, Eliza Lemus, is that “[your partner] has your back when the ball is out of reach and vice versa”. The ability to rely on each other demonstrates the importance of communication during every match.

Tennis is not an easy sport, but it is one that is fun and helps many of the current members de-stress from their busy academic schedules. So, whether or not you have experience playing tennis, try it out. I know they all hope to see you out on the court next year!
