With the many sports at BOYCP, the girls’ softball team is never a disappointment. This season has been great for the Varsity softball team. This will be the third consecutive year that the team wins its conference; clearly, they are doing something right. With great dedication to the sport and each other, the girls remain unstoppable.

To get to where they are at, the softball girls had to put a lot of hard work into their daily practices. Even though there were great results, the team would have been unable to accomplish this without a few obstacles. The ever-changing Chicago weather was not kind to the beginning of the softball season; at times the weather would turn the field into a swimming pool. Despite a rocky start to the season the team persevered through and came out on top.

So what is the secret to the girls’ success? Teamwork? Communication? Leadership? It’s all of them. Without the leadership of the team’s coaches, nothing would have been possible. It not only depends on the coaches but also the relationship of the players. As anyone knows, if you want to be successful in a team sport, communication is key. According to BOYCP sophomore, Alexa Ramirez, “we cheer each other on at games, and we are there for each other if anyone needs to talk about anything.” Aside from the coaches, this team has developed its own internal leadership. This team has grown dramatically in only a few short years.

This year’s team has set the bar high with an overall record of 16-5. Coach Schneider hopes to maintain this record next year since the team will be facing much more competitive opponents. The undeniable, strong relationship with the softball team will continue to push them past their opponents. Without a doubt, this amazing group of girls will continue to do amazing things on and off the field.
